两个相爱的人终会相遇
这部影片是新海诚成名之作，在近两个小时的时间，为我们绘制一幅纯真的爱情与努力拯救对方的故事。以穿越时间的灵魂互换为契机，以拯救对方以及糸守镇为目标，两个年轻人在不断的交换中，逐渐了解对方，在黄昏之时相遇。
三叶等了八年，在樱花飘落的那一天，终于等到了他。而他，也在那一天，终于发现的自己的内心，找到了她。
爱能做到的有哪些
远在乡下的三叶，跨越半个国家去东京
在陨石坠落前一天，三叶不放心泷和奥寺的约会，逃课去东京找三年前的泷。地铁上相遇时，在泷看来是个陌生而奇怪的女生，三叶却以为自己不被认可，把纽糸时间的头绳交给了泷，埋下了一颗种子。
泷为了拯救三叶，穿越时间
虽然梦醒了忘记，泷只能记得三叶的名字或是糸守的地名，但是他也选择了跨越漫长的距离，找到了那个时空的三叶，拯救了她。两人的双向奔赴，虽然有三年的时间差，但是依然构成了一幅美丽的画面。
三叶在奔跑中跌倒，看到了“喜欢你”
泷在经历了自己手机上的My diary里面变成一堆乱码，发现似乎名字与事件不能同时留下，选择在三叶的手上写下“喜欢你”，而三叶在奔跑中跌倒，看到了这句话。这句话，是泷对三叶的爱。而三叶在见到之后，知道自己不是孤单一人，有泷和她一起努力拯救镇子，泷也在努力拯救他。三叶更加努力的奔跑，与镇长父亲协商转移居民，去完成泷未完成的事情，去拯救整个镇子。
【隐藏线】二叶和镇长
泷in三叶和一叶的对话中提到，宫水家族的人在青春期总会进行这样的“梦”。而在外传中提到，镇长是其他地方的望族，入赘糸守镇。并且由于他们青春期也经历过泷和三叶这样的互换，虽然梦醒来遗忘了，但是潜意识里面让二叶一见面就和他产生好感，最后结婚。
最终成为镇长，在彗星坠落的时候顺利的以避难演习为名，转移全镇人员，完成了最终的拯救。
如果缺失了二叶和镇长的努力，三叶和泷的努力恐怕没有这样的结果，糸守镇也不会得以幸存。
就此，神明1200年的守护与宫水家族的任务，终于结束。
彗星的意义
糸守镇诞生于1200年前的彗星陨落，也毁灭于彗星的再次陨落。
我们是否也在遗忘？该怎么做？
遗忘贯穿了整部影片，不止影片，生活中我们也在不断遗忘着，遗忘着自己的初心，遗忘着自己的梦想，遗忘着自己的爱。而在遗忘之后，我们又该如何做呢？泷和三叶反抗着遗忘，去追寻对方，我们是不是也是经历过邂逅，然后遗忘，然后再次邂逅呢？泷和三叶的两次擦肩而过，在第二次泷终于选择直面三叶，三叶也终于发现了自己所追寻的人。
这是一个关于爱情的故事
每个人在成长中经历的故事不一样，而每个人是否相信对新海诚影片中主题的爱也不一样。新海诚描绘了他心中的爱情，我认为也是极为纯粹的爱情，两个人在不断交换中拯救对方，了解对方。而你是否愿意相信这样的爱呢？现在我们所接触到的爱情，不可否认的有很多基于利益，基于物质，昂或只是基于诞生下一代。而这样的爱情，是否也是我们所追求的呢？

Two People in Love Will Eventually Meet
This film is Makoto Shinkai’s breakthrough work. Over nearly two hours, it paints a story of innocent love and striving to save each other. Taking a time-traveling body swap as the starting point, with saving each other and Itomori Town as the goal, the two young people gradually come to know one another through their repeated swaps, finally meeting at twilight.
Mitsuha waited for eight years, and on that day when cherry blossoms fell, she finally saw him again. And on that same day, he finally discovered his true feelings and found her.
What Can Love Achieve
Mitsuha, living deep in the countryside, travels halfway across the country to Tokyo
The day before the meteorite falls, feeling uneasy about Taki’s date with Okudera, Mitsuha skips school and goes to Tokyo to find Taki as he was three years earlier. When they meet on the subway, she seems like a strange girl to him. Thinking she isn’t recognized, Mitsuha gives the braided cord on which time is knotted to Taki, planting a seed for the future.
Taki travels through time to save Mitsuha
Though the dream fades and he forgets, with only the name Mitsuha or the place name Itomori in his memory, Taki still chooses to traverse the vast distance to find Mitsuha in that other time and save her. Their mutual journey towards each other, despite the three-year time gap, forms a beautiful picture.
Mitsuha sees “i love you” after falling while running
After seeing his phone’s “My Diary” turn into garbled text and realizing that perhaps names and events cannot simultaneously remain, Taki chooses to write “I love you” on Mitsuha’s hand. Mitsuha, while running, falls and sees these words. This message is Taki’s love for Mitsuha. Seeing it, she knows she is not alone; Taki is working with her to save the town, and he is also striving to save her. Mitsuha runs even harder, negotiates with her mayor father to evacuate the residents, completes what Taki couldn’t finish, and saves the whole town.
【Hidden Plot】 Hitoha and the Mayor
During the conversation between Taki-in-Mitsuha and Ichiha, it is mentioned that members of the Miyamizu family always have such “dreams” during adolescence. As revealed in supplementary materials, the Mayor comes from a prominent family elsewhere and married into Itomori Town. Because they also experienced a swap like Taki and Mitsuha’s during their adolescence—though they forgot upon waking—their subconsciousness made Hitoha feel a fondness for him from their first meeting, leading to marriage.
He ultimately becomes the Mayor. When the comet falls, he successfully evacuates the entire town under the guise of a disaster drill, completing the final rescue.
Without the efforts of Hitoha and the Mayor, the efforts of Mitsuha and Taki might not have borne such fruit, and Itomori Town might not have survived.
Thus, the 1200-year watch of the gods and the task of the Miyamizu family finally come to an end.
The Meaning of the Comet
Itomori Town was born from the fall of a comet 1200 years ago and was almost destroyed by its return.
Are We Also Forgetting? What Should We Do?
Forgetting runs through the entire film. Not only in the film, but in life we are also constantly forgetting—forgetting our original intentions, our dreams, our love. After forgetting, what should we do? Taki and Mitsuha resist forgetting, pursuing each other. Have we too experienced an encounter, then forgotten, only to encounter again? They pass by each other twice. The second time, Taki finally chooses to face Mitsuha directly, and she finally recognizes the person she has been searching for.
This is a Story About Love
Everyone experiences different stories as they grow up, and each person may hold different beliefs about the theme of love in Makoto Shinkai’s films. Shinkai depicts the love in his heart, which I believe is also an extremely pure kind of love—two people saving each other and understanding each other through repeated swaps. Are you willing to believe in such love? The love we encounter today undoubtedly often involves factors like benefit, material interests, or simply producing the next generation. Is such love what we truly pursue?
